Steam Generator
As part of a power plant project, Convoy Logistics Providers Ltd. (CLP) arranged for vessel charter services and discharge of 2 vessel charters carrying 32 Heat Recovery Steam Generator modules with weights of 116 MT to 176 MT destined for a power plant in Ontario, Canada. Arrangements included changing port of discharge to allow loading of modules directly to rail cars, engineering services to reduce the combined center of gravity and setting up rail cars in advance by having brackets welded to allow precise placement of the 13 ft wide units.
Delivery from the port to the power plant was made with dedicated special train service to north of Toronto where modules were transferred from rail to road using gantry cranes. Additional over sized insulation panels were delivered over the road and CLP continued to service this project
successfully for 1.5 years with other project cargo deliveries.
CLP achieved substantial savings by researching alternate port options and selecting road and rail carriers best suited for the project.
